Police Chief
Appointed in August, 1992
Married to Marlyn (Elrod) Hooper in June of 1971, they have two children, Dana Johnson and David Hooper. Dana is married to Jerry Johnson and they have two children, Jeremy and Colton. David is married to Jessica Hooper and they have three children, Taylor, Kaylee, and Brody. Chief Hooper’s parents are Janelle Hooper Lunsford and the late Gerald Hooper.
Before becoming Chief of Police of Eton, Mr. Hooper worked for the Murray County Sheriff’s Department for twelve years achieving the rank of sergeant, then captain. Mr. Hooper graduated Murray County High School in 1970, attended Floyd Junior College for certification and continually attends various trainings beneficial to his position.
Chief Hooper’s statement:
"It’s my honor and privilege to know and work for my citizens. All visitors are welcome to visit our City which is set at the foothills of the Cohutta Mountains."
